We aim to inform and enlighten individuals about the importance of being able to exercise their freedom to speak freely. Through various educational initiatives, the CVL hopes to foster a deeper understanding of this right and its importance to Canadian democracy. Imparting this knowledge may prove beneficial, empowering people to better advocate for and exercise this right in various contexts.

Our Goals:

Define freedom of speech
Explore the legislation that protects the right to speak freely
Explore the key historical events that have shaped freedom of speech

Demonstrate the challenges to freedom of speech in Canada
Inform others about the disparities in the ability to exercise one's freedom of speech
Decouple hate speech from free speech
Provide a comparative look at how freedom of speech is viewed globally

Our Educational Initiatives

Educational videos offer a dynamic and engaging platform to impart knowledge, allowing viewers to be more educated on their freedom of speech. By using illustrations, interviewing experts, and breaking down certain topics, we can educate others on freedom of speech in an entertaining/creative way.

Through lectures, we provide an opportunity to articulate our objectives and foster meaningful connections with diverse audiences. Our lecture series spans Canada, focusing on the discourse surrounding free speech and ensuring its protection in Canada and our institutions.

Our biweekly blog series provides in-depth insights and comprehensive analyses of the pertinent free speech issues impacting Canadians. With these posts, we are actively gauging diverse voices to contribute to the broader societal dialogue, ensuring it remains inclusive. You can read our blogs here.
